Meet the Press

I interrupted my NFL Sunday routine and chose to watch Meet the Press this morning. Anyone who’s in the Journalism program at AU has most likely taken a field trip to NBC and seen the set of Meet the Press. It is basically a big empty space with a table towards the front and pictures of historical government events on the walls. It is mostly an empty white space. This was my first time watching the show and it was interesting to me that only a small amount of the set is actually shown. At all times there are at least two to three Meet the Press signs on screen.

The show itself is basically a recap of what happened during the week in politics and it brings in members of the press and members of the government to give their thoughts on the most recent news. This week that surrounded the investigation into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford who has accused him of sexual assault.
Surprisingly to me they interviewed a two women one of those women being a woman of color Helene Cooper Pentagon correspondent for NY Times and two men from the press. However the most part all other interviews were very white and very old. Which in general is the depiction of our government.
