Milan Fashion Week Street Style

When I saw this image in a recent "The Cut" article, I was filled with immediate joy. Unlike many other magazine articles and photo series of street style, these women are all different shapes and sizes. They look happy and joyful, and the photograph's included in the article are very effortless and not staged. It is important to show readers/viewers of the "The Cut" that there isn't one ideal of beauty. It is unfortunate that this kind of article and photo series is rare because of the fact that the media is filled with toxic ideals of beauty. It is a breath of a fresh air to see that the media is slowly changing and improving. However, there is still so much work that needs to be done. I watch television and get lots of vital information through social media, along with tons of other people in this country. Media has an impact on everyone and the things we see influence our biases and can reinforce stereotypes.
Thank you for sharing this article. It's important to note that while this is a step in the wright direction, there is more work to be done. This photo is missing someone who it truly "plus-sized." It is also appealing to a "wealthy" consumer because their styles appear to be expensive. However, I think what's most important is that this image strays from being white washed and shows diversity in the fashion industry.
