Say it Right
The name of someone is often the first thing you learn about them. For people like Ariana Grande their names are in the media being pronounced wrong every day. To most if the world the correct pronunciation of her name has been the same as a medium sized drink at Starbucks. Grande did an interview with Beats 1 Radio where she pronounced her last name Grand-ie. Even after this Jackie O from the Kyle and Jackie O show said, "I'm going to stick with it because if she is not correcting us then obviously it doesn't bother her."
The same thing opened up the eyes of thousands of NFL fans when they learned the correct pronunciation of Tyrod Taylor's name after the second week of "Hard Knocks" aired. 4th String QB Brogan Roback pronounces Taylor's name Tu-rod in an interview and suddenly the world of sports exploded in amazement that everyone says the starting quarterback for the Browns name wrong. This is a guy that is interviewed daily and no one took the time to learn to say his name. An article in USA Today sports said it perfectly, "What do we do now? I feel like I’m too invested in the TY-Rod pronunciation to change, and TUH-Rod doesn’t sound nearly as cool. I blame Taylor for this dilemma. He should have corrected us years ago. We’re now past the point of no return." How are you going to say the correct way to say is name isn't cool enough? It's his name. Say it right.
