Piers Morgan posted on twitter this Photo of Daniel Craig saying: "Oh 007.. not you as well?!!! #papoose #emasculatedBond". He was referencing the Craig's Character of James Bond, traditional known as a masculine standard other men should aspire to.
The implications came off that carrying a child is okay but not in a papoose, as if carrying a child hands-free was a step to far from masculinity. It also implies that Daniel should be living up to the masculine standard set by a fictional character from another era in his everyday life. Men defining masculinity for other men is damaging to them, restricts their choices, and puts more work onto women.
Fortuantely, there was an outpouring of support from dads across the world posting photos showing them being proud to carry their children, papoose or no papoose.
I appreciate the amount of dads supporting Craig and I also think it's genuinely delusional to expect Daniel Craig to be just like a fictional character he plays when even Craig has called James Bond a misogynist. Also Craig has two kids so I wonder what would it even look like if a 50 year old man wasn't taking care of his two kids. But I feel like because Craig is a white father, he's expected to be not involved with childcare but black men are repeatedly called deadbeat dads.
