McDonald's Sweden Advertising Campaign
I read a very short story on Adweek that showed an advertising campaign for McDonald's that happened in Sweden. The company partnered with agency Nord DDB and jumbled letters around on their chain’s digital displays. Although some observers simply viewed this as a glitch, it was actually a campaign to bring awareness to World Dyslexia Awareness Day. The learning disability affects about 20% of the population globally and those it does not affect don’t often experience the struggle it brings on a daily basis.
Christoffer Ronnblad, marketing director of McDonald's Sweden, said, "It feels good to be able to use our scale and our voice in society to visualize an invisible problem that many suffer from." I think this was an excellent campaign, especially for a company as big as them. If more companies did this kind of advertising, more awareness could be brought to various different issues.
