#MeToo one year later?

It has been one year since sexual assault allegations against Hollywood Producer, Harvey Weinstein, shook the nation with the "Me Too" hashtag, but how many changes in law and procedure have actually been made over the course of the year?

There has been a backlash against alleged male perpetrators, a wave of sexual assault cases filed, and  increasing coverage of the #metoo movement across all forms of social media.

However, women of color and low-wage workers believe the movement hasn't adequately addressed their concerns. Similar to the Suffrage Movement that didn't include black or low-wage feminists.

While the absence of the black and low-wage earner voice in any movement concerning women is unjust, the #MeToo movement's failure to include women of color is especially worse considering it was started by a black woman.

Tarana Burke is an African American civil rights and women's rights activist who started the movement in 2006.

Many news outlets are breaking stories on #MeToo one year later, which is problematic because it doesn't properly cover the entirety of the movement or the work Burke has  been doing since 2006.
