Symbolic Annihilation as Political Rhetoric

Native americans have been symbolically annihilated in American media for decades, and Elizabeth Warren's DNA test is the latest contributor to this injustice. She is not a member of a native community or cultural contributor, but yet she felt that a DNA test that suggesting a semblance of a native ancestor 6-10 generations ago made it appropriate for her to use it as a political tool.

I'm sure she hoped people would have focused on her Million dollar twitter bet with Trump. That would have been a good out come for the Cheerokee people if they were actually going to see a dime of that money. As of now its a distraction from other major pressing political issues, and it takes away from the issues that native people face. She gets to use a historically targeted and erased identity for her own gain without any real actions to support or give voice to the native people and activists trying to get their voices heard.
