Teen Vogue gone Rogue?
Teen Vogue released this tweet, embedding their article from April, 2018. Based on their regular content, aimed towards a younger, typically cis-female demographic, it was intended to inform younger adolescents about capitalism. The article does not take on any nuances, it's relatively straightforward. The shocking part about this was the tweet that came with it.
"Can't #endpoverty without ending capitalism!" This sarcastic tweet, clearly targeted at the nation's capitalistic practices is really surprising, since this is the first time I have seen a largely recognized media platform speaking OUT against capitalism in any way. I thought it was also interesting to note that this phrase was on a Tweet, where we have seen most of the digital activism and commentary. This post relates to the discussions we've had about class and how media gate-keepers participate in framing.
