The privilege of anger

Dr. Ford's Senate testimonies have been in the news constantly. While decisions on Kavanaugh are not fulling completed, the public pretty much knows what will happen: another predator will be appointed to power in the United States government. This is a loss for women and humanity. I was scrolling through Twitter this week and found this Facebook post, from Kavanaugh's hearing.
This statement is ridiculously true. Dr. Ford resisted all temptations of being displayed as emotional, or angry, or hysterical--which are all common adjectives used to describe women, by men. If she showed any sliver of emotion, during what is, naturally, a difficult and emotional time, she would have been disbanded. But men, specifically Kavanaugh, is able to act angry, outraged, and highly hysterical, without critique. The post also made connections to black men not being able to show emotion, concepts explained during this week's class. This post draws connections to anger and privilege and explores something I had previously never thought about.
