#MeToo not implemented in Forest Service

Vicki Christiansen, the new chief of the Forest Service, has been criticized for not being completely truthful when discussing her efforts to deal with sexual assault and harassment allegations in the department.

Certain members of the department have expressed their concern over the way she has handled--or not-- such matters.
Shannon Reed, a former employee, said that her harassment complain was not processed--though according to Christiansen, it was.
This situation is problematic because it implies that a woman is not doing her part as a woman to stand by the #metoo movement, or as a director by not handling assault and harassment allegations that emerge in the workplace. It also gives into the theory that white women are not allies and can sometimes be part of the problem.

  1. It's sad to see despite the fact there has been a MeToo movement it is not leading to change in all industries. The fact that it is also a woman that is not taking sexual assault seriously also shows how embedded white supremacy and heteropatriarchy are in our culture.
