Rihanna is the latest celebrity to complain about Trump using their hit song at a political rally. On Sunday the artist tweeted out
“Not for much longer…me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up,” after finding out that the President was using playing her song "Don't Stop the Music"during his latest rally during his midterm campaign. The artist has not said if her lawyers will send out a cease and desist notice, but I'm assuming by the tweet she sent out that the notice will follow soon if it hasn't already went out.
This comes a week after Pharrell requested Trump not use the song "Happy" at any future political rallies or events. Other notable artist that have been outspoken about Trump using their songs are Adele, The Estate of Prince, REM, and Aerosmith according to an Evening Standard article.
I think celebrities have a lot of power to change the narrative and influence fans. I hope they continue to speak out. Trump can stick to Toby Keith .
