Twitter is being used once again to spark trending hashtag that allows for individuals to tell their story. This time on the 50th anniversary of birth control it is #ThxBirthControl. This hashtag is being used in an attempt to show that birth control is used for much more than contraception. Birth Control comes in many different forms, the pill, the patch, IUD's and even Nexplanon which is an implant that is inserted into the patients arm. Birth control can be used for many reasons stretching from acne to reducing the risk of certain cancers.

Even with all of the other benefits birth control gives women the ability to make conscious choices about their future. Twitter is a medium that is a source of news for many people so when hashtags begin to trend thousands of people are potentially becoming aware of information that they may have not known before. This is an example of media focusing on women and the rights of women.
