Widows
This movie is centered around the widows of men who were all a part of the same criminal organization. After the mens’ deaths the women plan a heist. The husbands of these wives caused them a lot of trouble through their work which caused the women to team up and carry out a plan to steal money.
This film was an example of the representation of minorities in the media. Not only did the plot follow these women, but the protagonist was a black woman. The film reinforced ideas that women can do anything men can do, and that when women stick together, they empower others.
I saw this movie about a week ago and thought that it was awesome that a black woman was the protagonist of the film. It is important that Hollywood continue to represent woman of color as protagonists.
