Blackface Incident

It's been a week and about a half since the US open Final and the publishing of a racist cartoon of Serena Williams by the Australian news paper, Herald Sun. Now another incident of racism has surfaced out of Australia. Three players from the Penguin Football Club chose to attend their end of the season celebrations wearing blackface. Two players depicted themselves as Venus and Serena Williams and the third as the Kenyan-born AFL player Aliir Aliir. It's unfair to blame the entirety of Australia for yet another racist incident, but it is no coincidence that the cartoon and this incident came out within days of each other. In article published by the Huffington Post "Thursday’s incident isn’t the first time an AFL club has made headlines for dressing up in blackface. In 2016 players from a suburban club in Melbourne dressed up as various African-American singers at a party where they were encouraged to dress as their favorite recording artists."
