Brett Kavanaugh's Catholic Girls Basketball Team of Tokenism and Infantilisation

During Brett Kavanaugh's nomination hearing, Sarah Mccarron saw a group of young girls sporting her old Blessed Sacrament School uniform. According to a mom, the girls were brought to the hearing to testify for Kavanaugh, the girls basketball coach at the school. In her Washingtonian op-ed, Mccarron was "horrified" that these girls were being used as props and briefly discusess how disingenious it is to tokenize this group of young girls.

I think there are deeper issues on how young girls are commodified as political propaganda and stripped from their own political autonomy and education due to their age. These young girls probably only know Kavanaugh as their basketball coach. For parents to use their innocent young daughters to establish Kavanaugh as an unalarming nice Catholic American is sinister. What's clearly missing from here is the actual opinions of these girls and not what's been spoon-fed to them from their parents. Also by using a group of young Catholic school girls, it's easier for these girls to be seen as the moral good of America, unlike non-Catholic children.
