Empire is Back!

Empire Season 5 is set to premier on Wednesday, September 26^th at 8 p.m. on Fox. Empire is an primetime musical drama television show created by Lee Daniels. Empire follows a fictional African American entertainment company and hip-hop family. The show is comprised of a diverse cast, but most leading roles are African American, such as Terrance Howard, Taraji P. Henson, and Bryshere Y. Gray. The series’ creator, Lee Daniels, along with the series’ composers, Rodney Jerkins, Ester Dean, and Jim Beanz are also African American. Empire is a special show on television because the show depicts a cast comprised, written and produced with oversight by African Americans. In an era where so many shows that are geared towards black audiences are not produced or written by African Americans, Empire has created a new benchmark.
