John Legends Legendary EGOT Win
This past week at the Emmys, John Legend won an Emmy for his role as producer in "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert". According to CNN, he has become, "one of the youngest EGOT winners and also became the first African-American man to snag that honor."
By becoming the first African American man to become an EGOT winner, he's breaking the racial boundaries that have historically been placed around theatre and the entertainment world.

I was both excited and saddened by hearing about this a couple days ago! It's incredibly impressive and John Legend is more than deserving of this honor. However, every time I hear "first African-American to acheive...." in this day and age, it is a sobering reminder of exactly how inequality is still rearing its head in every sphere of our culture.
