Antonio Delgado the "rapper" NO the Scholar
Antonio Delgado is running for New York's 19th Congressional District. He is a Rhodes Scholar, Harvard Law Grad and a Democratic Candidate. He raised $3.8 million dollars against Republicans. However, the New York Post repeated refers to him as "ex-rapper." The New York Times published an article titled, "A Congressional Candidate Used to be a Rapper, Will it Matter?"
We must be skeptical of this because it demonstrates how framing shapes the media. It also attempts to knock his credibility because his career was as a rapper. Lastly, it is taking the past of an accomplished scholar and disregarding it because he was a rapper, which can be stereotyped as a career path of people of color. It is blatant disrespect.

TRUE! I found it really cool he was a rapper and actually added to his credibility for me but for those that have negative perceptions about what it means to be in hip hop/ be a rapper, I definitely see how this framing could have adverse effects on his image.
