Beto O'Rourke's 1991 Sexist Comment Resurfaced

Beto O'Rourke, the Texas Democrat running for the state's open U.S. Senate seat, apologized Monday for a sexist comment he made in 1991 review of a Broadway play. A 19-year-old O'Rourke was an undergraduate student at Columbia University when his critique was published in the school newspaper.

“Keith Carradine in the lead role is surrounded by perma-smile actresses whose only qualifications seem to be their phenomenally large breasts and tight buttocks,” he wrote in his review.

In light of the recent Kavanaugh hearings and the still-present #MeToo activity on social media, this kind of behavior does stir up some feelings of uneasiness and concern. While the comment was made nearly three decades ago, it was made nonetheless.
