Parents Teaching Consent in Disney

An article in The Washington Post and in Parents Magazine showed how some celebrities are giving lessons on consent to their daughters through Disney princess fairytales. Kristen Bell says when she reads Snow White and Sleeping Beauty to her daughters, she points out that the prince kissing the princess while she is asleep is non-consensual. Other people and researchers have come forward describing these fairytales as "sexual assault on an unconscious person" and "promoting sexual violence to kids."

Here is one kinda disturbing video made by Amnesty International Canada about the issue.
Kierra Knightley has also described her parenting methods of preventing her daughter from watching certain disney films that were sexist, like how The Little Mermaid gives up her voice to be with a man. Although some may view these as harmless children's stories and that parents are being too sensitive, if we think about cultivation theory and what we have learned about how young girls and boys are seriously affected through their self-esteem and body images from media, we do have to take these stories, films, and books seriously.

My only counter-argument would be, what are parents teaching their sons? Why don't we hear about that?
