The Ideal Male
I recently came across an article by the Huffington Post about a photograph of Daniel Craig carrying his baby. The photo was posted all over twitter with people mimicking Daniel Craig and diminishing his masculinity because of the way in which he was carrying his child. Apparently men can’t carry their children like women can? Lots of fathers took to social media and posted similar photo’s like Daniel Craig’s. I believe that people are so baffled by the photograph because they most likely don’t see men depicted in the media as fatherly figures holding their babies on their chest. The ideal male body is chiseled with abs and broad shoulders, not a baby on his chest. A co-star of Daniel Craig, Chris Evans tweeted, “You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child. Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside.” I think this tweet is a little ironic because Chris Evans plays in Captain America movies where his body especially perfect.
