Trump talking about the "Caravan of Migrants" coming from South and Central America is clear example of Latino stereotypes in media. Trump described them as "young strong men" who are "dangerous" and the kind of people who aren't wanted here.

Political rhetoric throughout history has shaped the image the public has about Latinx people, and this is no different. Spanish-speaking refugees seeking asylum are continuously portrayed as a threat which further feeds the stereotype of Latinx people as problem.

When major media outlets like Fox News air the Presidents othering comments on Latinxs, they bolster the stereotypes that are already primed in people's minds by pop culture and movies.

I think the best way to improve upon hateful rhetoric are to call it out for what it is and avoid playing it as much as possible.
