Celine Dion Doesn't Believe in Gender Conformity: Her New Clothing Line for Kids
Celine Dion recently partnered with NUNUNU to come out with a gender neutral children's clothing line, 'CELINUNUNU'. The concept came about after she took her twin sons to Disney World, and she realized they were more interested in the princesses than the superheros, and Minnie instead of Mickey. Dion decided that there was no need to subject her kids and others to gender roles they may not want to participate in.
In our class, we've discussed how harmful gender roles can be, especially in creating toxic masculinity. By creating colorful clothes for all kids to wear, Dion is taking part in alleviating the unnecessary emphasis of gender roles on children.
