Over the past two years, and especially as of late, Trump's use of dog-whistle rhetoric and horrifyingly racist stereotypes of Latino immigrants has increased racial tension and interpersonal violence against minorities. One common topic he obsesses over is the centering of a couple of cases undocumented immigrants murdering American citizens, pretending that it is a national threat. In
this article, the widowed husband of a white woman murdered by an undocumented immigrant speaks out against Trump's rhetoric. After discussing his pain and anger at the death of his wife, he says "I also hate what Donald Trump has done to America in exploiting murders like Adrienne’s to summarily demonize and scapegoat an entire segment of our population because, for political purposes, he’s compelled to tear the nation apart and turn us against each other." Trump's framing of these cases is being used for purely his own benefit, and when even the loved ones of the victims in these cases recognize this, it exemplifies the disgusting impact of his manipulation of these situations.

The murder victim, a blonde white woman, was the perfect image for Trump to use to fan the flames of racist fear. |
Trump's dog-whistle rhetoric towards immigrants uses the most horrible stereotypes to portray these groups as a threat to the country. The husband's reaction reminds me of Mollie Tibbetts father's reaction when Trump and other groups started to use her murder to further their rhetoric. It is disgusting how even when family members of the victims ask them not to use their loved ones in their political agenda, Trump and other politicians continue to use them.
