Sharice Davids is the first LGBTQ+ Native american elected to congress. This is a big step in terms of visibility. Due to the systematic annihilation of Native peoples in media, many people don't think of native americans as relevant or politically active. Davids' win getting a lot of media coverage improves the visibility of native people in the media, the idea of POC and Queer women in positions of power, and allowing a native person to be a part of the government that shapes hers and many people's lives
